Cubs sale: Kenney staying put

According to ESPN Radio 1000, Cubs Chairman Crane Kenney will stay on in his current role:

Chicago Cubs chairman Crane Kenney has an agreement in place with Tom Ricketts to stay in his current capacity as the team is being sold by Tribune Co. to the Ricketts family, according to ESPN 1000.

The agreement is for multiple years, a source close to Kenney told the radio station.

Well, isn’t that an interesting turn of events. It appears that all of us (myself included) who thought he would be one the first casualties were very, very wrong.

Well, if this is correct, it is very troubling. We were happy when the Tribune replaced the awful Wrigley regime, and honesty compels me to admit that the team is more competitive now than it was under the Wrigleys. But this idea reminds us that world wars come and go, new teams are formed and teams move, everything changes but one thing. The Chicago Cubs never win. Not since 1908.

i can’t believe they would keep him in the same position. but that’s just me. according to this report, that is the plan.

lots of strange things happen during the sales process of a team, we should probably take any reports of what the ricketts will do with a grain of salt until the deal is finally final.
